Patsy Ann (Montgomery) Bowen, age 85, of Coffeyville, KS, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Cherryvale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cherryvale, KS, where she had been a resident since 2013. Patsy was born on August 26, 1930, at Delaware, OK to Virgil Euguene and Dosia Marie (Kern) Montgomery. She grew up on a farm south of Tyro, KS, and west of Coffeyville where she attended Robinson Country School, McKinley Elementary, Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1949. On February 3, 1952, she married Billy Joe Bowen of Lakelyne. West Virginia, in Independence, KS. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their family in Coffeyville. Billy preceded her in death on February 9th, 2002. Survivors include her son, Stephen Allen Bowen of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Cindy Antle and husband Doug of Coffeyville, KS; three siters, Virginia Kudrick of Shawnee, KS, Dolores "Dee" Farris of Sedan, KS, and Nancy Schmidt of Leavenworth, KS; five grandchildren, Melissa Bowen, Amanda Beldon, Jessica Bowen, Samantha Bush and Derrick Bush; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Patsy was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Holy Name Altar Society, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In 2010 she stayed with her sister Virginia Kudrick and attended the Mound Valley United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women Association. Patsy liked to sing, dance, roller skate, and take care of her pink roses. She loved spending time with her family, going to church and riding her bicycle all over Coffeyville. The family would like to thank all her friends and those who helped her. Thank you for your love and prayers. A Rosary Virgil Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Chad Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, August 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to Gentiva Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
