Obituary of Ruby Ladeen Crawford

Ruby Ladeen Crawford, 102, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Windsor Place. She was born February 5, 1914, at Valeda, KS to Peter Harrison and Zora Ettie (Vidito) Martin. She grew up and attended school in Valeda. On August 22, 1933, she married Leonard Paul Straub at Oswego, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in the Valeda area where they raised their four children. They were later divorced. On December 23, 1959, she married Wendell James Crawford. Following their marriage they made their home in western Kansas, and Tulsa, OK until moving to South Coffeyville, OK. She was a member of the Valeda United Methodist Church. Many will remember her friendliness and smile, her skillet fried chicken, chicken and noodles, and homemade blackberry cobbler, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening, taking care of her home, and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include one son, Martin Straub of Claremore, OK; three daughters, Betty Frogley of Kansas City, KS, Jeanina Paige of Bartlesville, OK, and Rebecca Oakleaf of Howard, KS; one sister, Winnona Storm of Coffeyville; eleven grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2016, at the First Church of God, with Pastor Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
