David Albert Dobson, 83, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Medicalodge of Coffeyville. He was born March 21, 1933, at Coffeyville to James Albert and Lily (Matthews) Dobson. David grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. On January 30, 1953, he married Betty Wilson at Tulsa, OK. Following their marriage they lived in Indiana until David was honorably discharged from the Army. After his discharge he was employed as a Police Officer with the City of Independence and the City of Augusta for several years before returning to Coffeyville. In 1962, he began his career at Funk Mfg. (now John Deere Coffeyville Works) where he was employed for 30 years retiring in 1992. He enjoyed reading, listening to and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, but most of all loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; one son, Jerry Dobson and wife Terri of Dearing; three daughters, Debra Bauder and husband Dan of Linn, MO, Janet Ross and husband Raymond of Coffeyville, and Diana Barton and husband James of Humboldt; one brother, Jesse Dobson of Vista, CA; one sister, Mary Bruno of Sun City, AZ; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons, James Allen Dobson and David Albert Dobson, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Shirley Renee Dobson; three brothers, Paul Dobson and Johnny Dobson, and James Dobson; two sisters, Alberta Dobson, and Nora Dobson; half-brother Robert Dobson; and one grandson, David Gene Dobson. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the First Assembly of God of Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Shriners Children's Hosptial; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
