Franklin Sprague, 89, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, February 26, 2017, at Windsor Place. He was born on April 7, 1927, at Coffeyville to Clarence and Louisa (Frank) Sprague. Franklin grew up Coffeyville where he attended Lowell Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High and graduated from Field Kindley High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army from 1945 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1946. On November 20, 1944, he married Dorothy Mae Bean at Independence, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Franklin worked at Pressure Cast for 30 years, and was active in Ministry for over 40 years. Franklin was a member of River of Life Tabernacle west of Coffeyville where he served as Pastor for nearly 40 years; he loved to study the Bible and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home; one daughter, Carolyn Brooks and husband Joe of Coffeyville; two sons, Jerry Sprague of Caney, KS and Rocky Sprague and wife Bridget of Bella Vista, AR; one sister, Phyllis Hall and husband James of Coffeyville; seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Services celebrating Franklin's life will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 3, 2017, at the River of Life Tabernacle west of Coffeyville, with Pastor Rocky Sprague and Pastor Joe Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Salvation Army; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
