John Riley Huff, 92, of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at CRMC. John was born on April 11, 1924 in Buffalo, Missouri to John R. and Ethel L. (Bennett) Huff. He grew up in Buffalo where he graduated high school. John served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II as a guard for the merchant Marines and transports until he received his honorable discharge. On March 13, 1948 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Vera Irene Smith in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. They had three children. Vera preceded him in death on January 1, 2009. John worked for Ludowici Tile in Coffeyville and at Pressure Cast in Coffeyville as a mold builder for over 37 years until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed tinkering and working on projects. He enjoyed wood working and was great at making and fixing things. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends. Surviving to honor his memory are his daughter, Shirley and husband, Jackie Lowrey, Jr. of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma ; son, Roger Huff and wife, Tammy of Wagoner, Oklahoma; daughter in law, Deane Huff of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Angela Finney and husband, Mike, Kristi Gray and husband, Nick, Stepha Johnson and husband, Josh, Amy Brooks and husband, Joey, Alicia Lowrey Akers and husband, Chris, Dayna Vest and husband, Ken, Riley Huff, Josh Huff, Stevie Jean Huff, Angel Huff; great grandchildren, Stephen and Shaelea Finney, Lindsey and Alexis Gray, Jaycie Johnson, Kelsea Watkins and husband, Jarin, MacKensie and Paige Brooks, Sadie Lowrey, Emily, Madison, Langston, Jozee, Brenli and Hudson Akers, Kendall and Reagan Vest and Kaiya Huff. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Huff; step father, Archie Day; loving wife, Vera Huff; son, Steve Huff; brother, Orla Huff and sister Vera Hargis. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Pastor Joe Brooks will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
