Obituary of Lottie Elizabeth Maggard

Lottie Elizabeth Maggard, 81, a former longtime Coffeyville resident passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, AR. She was born on April 12, 1935, at Delaplaine, AR to Willard L. and Minnie C. (Parks) Ulmer. When Lottie was young her family moved to Coffeyville where she grew up and attended school. On July 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to the love of her life James Homerlee "Homer" Maggard. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville and Burleson, TX. While living in Burleson, TX Lottie was a CNA / CMA at Burleson Nursing Home, after returning to Coffeyville she was a CNA / CMA at Windsor Place. Lottie and her husband were longtime owners and operators of J and L Tavern in Coffeyville. Following her husband's death in 1995, Lottie continued to make her home in Coffeyville until moving to Bentonville, AR in 2012. She attended the Assembly of God, she was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #1022 Ladies Auxiliary serving as President, Sergeant of Arms, and Chaplain, and American Legion Post #20 Ladies Auxiliary. Lottie's great joy was spending time with her family, caring for others and playing bingo. Survivors include three sons, Dennis Maggard of Coffeyville, James Maggard of Edna, and Kenneth Maggard of Peggs, OK; five daughters, Elizabeth Maggard of Coffeyville, Christine Pape of Burleson, TX, Sondra "Katy" Maggard of Cleburne, TX, Catherin Maggard of Bentonvlle, AR, and Charlotte Rene Yeubanks of Edna; one sister, Ida Crites of Bentonville, AR; nineteen grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Karl Maggard, one great-granddaughter, Amber Lynn Maggard, and one brother, Jimmy Abe Ulmer. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017 at the First Assembly of God in Coffeyville with Pastor Randy DePriest officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
