Obituary of Martha L. Banzet

Martha L. Banzet, 89, of Coffeyville passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 7, 1928, at Bluejacket, OK to Leo and and Myrtle (Reese) Haynes. Martha grew up and attended school in Cherryvale, KS. On December 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Clarence Alfred "Red" Banzet at Chetopa, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Her husband preceded her in death on February 19, 1970. Mrs. Banzet was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Gowen and husband Dick of Coffeyville; one son, Richard Banzet and wife Sue of South Coffeyville, OK; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter, Phyllis J. Flood. Services Celebrating Martha's life will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Nicole Scwhartz-Eck officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Creek Cemetery west of Bartlett, KS. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
