Obituary of Charles Grant "Pug" Clough

Charles Grant “Pug” Clough, 86, of Coffeyville passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at this home.

He was born on August 9, 1930, at Arkansas City, KS to Charles Reiner and Valeria Elizabeth (Becker) Clough. Pug grew up and attended school in Winfield, KS and Grand Island, NE, before moving to Coffeyville where he completed his education graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1948. Following high school he attended the University of Kansas until joining the U.S. Marine Corp.

After being Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corp he attended Dry Cleaning School.

On November 29, 1952, he married Jacquelyn “Jackie” Lankard at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their children. Pug and Jackie owned and operated a Dry Cleaning Business for several years. They later owned and operated Clough Oil Company operating a service station and Oil and Gas Distribution business.

Pug was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as Trustee for many years, he was a member of Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M. for 67 years, York Rites, Commandary, Mirza Temple, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, American Legion Post #20, served on the U.S.D. #445 School Board, Coffeyville Public School Foundation, Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce, was 2008 Chamber Man of the Year and 2017 Chamber Champion, Director on the Coffeyville Historical Society, Friends of the Brown Mansion helping mow the Mansion grounds for several years, and volunteered at the Dalton Museum. He was a former member of the Jaycees and was a Rainbow Dad. Pug also enjoyed hunting, the Methodist Women Coffee group, and traveling.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie of the home; his children, Cindy Baldwin and husband David of Coffeyville, Jon Clough and wife Mary of Coffeyville, and Nancy Garton and husband, Kendall of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren, Melissa and Eric Fletcher, Amy and Brendan Murdock, Stacy Baldwin, Monica and Corey Shue, Cindy and Jason Kelley, Katie Clough and friend Christina Kelley, Jason Helkenberg, Brandon Helkenberg, and James and Kim Helkenberg; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Deborah Joy “Deb” Clough.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with Masonic Rites conducted by Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. & A.M.

Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  at the First United Methodist Church Chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, Coffeyville Historical Society for chimney repairs at the Brown Mansion, or Shriners Hospitals for Children; contribution may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
