Obituary of Mary Alice "Lorraine" Long

Mary Alice "Lorraine" Long, age 88, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, went to be with the Lord on May 28, 2017. She was born on October 29, 1928 to Edgar and Rena Robinson Small in Rochester, Minnesota. Lorraine was a longtime resident of Coffeyville, KS, where she raised her family and was a ward clerk for Coffeyville Regional Medical Center for 23 years. She retired to Fort Walton Beach, FL, in 1996. Lorraine loved to serve the Lord, she was always whistling and humming Christian songs. She was very generous to others with her time and talents and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. Lorraine enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as reading and completing crossword puzzles if she wasn't watching Lawrence Welk on television. Most of all, Lorraine loved and cherished spending time with her family and spoiling the family dog, Coco. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilson Long; and brother, Vernon Lewis Small. She is survived by her children, Jim (Sharon) Long of Blue Springs, MO, Georgia Alston of Coffeyville, KS, Geraldine (Myrle) LaPee of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Richard Long of Coffeyville, KS, Martha Long of Coffeyville, KS, and Mary (Philip) Reese of Coffeyville, KS; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville, KS. Friends may call on Monday, June 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the R.U. Recovery Ministry, Calvary Baptist Church, 529 Clifford Street, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, in Lorraine's memory.
