Obituary of Michele Ann Caldwell

Please share a memory of Michele to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michele Ann (Radcliff) Caldwell made it to her 60th birthday on July 5, 2017 after suffering from a massive stroke in June. Michele wanted more than anything to return home to be with her family and pets. She fought to recover for as long as she could. Surrounded by her loving family, Michele's earthly body went to rest on Monday, July 31, 2017 while her soul went to be in the arms of the Lord.

Michele was born on July 5, 1957 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Gerald 'Jerry' Radcliff and Anna Mae (Hunsinger) Radcliff. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended Edgewood Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School and graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1975. She continued her education at Coffeyville Community College and achieved her Associates Degree. She went on to attend Pittsburg State University. "GO Gorillas!"

In 1983 Michele met the love of her life, Steve Caldwell while she was working at a local liquor store. It was instant chemistry and Steve began courting her. In 1986 the two were united in marriage. The couple made Coffeyville their home where they raised their two children. Michele taught gymnastic and dance lessons while her daughter Lindsey was growing up. Steve and Michele were famous for their 4th of July blow outs. That one day of every year, the entire neighborhood would come together to celebrate and spend time together in a block party and with Michele's birthday being the following day they always made sure it was a celebration to remember.

Michele became a licensed cosmetologist in 2005 from ICJC graduating valedictorian of her class. She opened her own beauty salon in her home called "Michele's Mirror" in 2006.

In October of 2009 Steve and Michele became the owners of the Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Alongside her husband and son she did whatever was needed of her at the cemetery. She was tasked with keeping the books, selling monuments and spaces as well as mowing, weed eating and general outside maintenance; Michele was there to pitch in and help however she could. The couple relinquished ownership of the cemetery to the City of Coffeyville in April of 2015.

Since 2015 Michele had been employed with the SmartStyle Hair Salon located in the Coffeyville Walmart until the time of her stroke. She will be dearly missed by her faithful and loving clients, co-workers and friends.

Michele was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed walking and riding bikes and specifically enjoyed walking through Pea Ridge and Wilson Creek Battlefields. She loved her dogs, cats and all animals in general. It wasn't uncommon for Michele to rescue an animal and give it a wonderful home. She liked to read, listen to music, gardening and crafting. She worked really hard making hair fascinators and made a website to promote them called Anna Veils.

Michele had a contagious smile and a great sense of humor. She won the trust and hearts of everyone she met. You didn't have to be around her very long before you witnessed her unconditional and nurturing love for others. This was most obvious when seeing her with her husband and kids. Michele was so proud of her children and all of their accomplishments. She never missed an opportunity to let them and others know how proud she was of her kids. She encouraged and supported their creativity, ambitions and dreams.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Steve of the home; daughter, Lindsey Ann Cross and husband, Jon of Shell Knob, Missouri; son, Adam Zachariah Caldwell of Coffeyville, Kansas; two brothers, Dan Radcliff and wife, Mary Jo of Independence, Kansas, Brett Radcliff and wife, Kelly of Independence, Kansas; sister, Justin Davis and husband, Pat of Coffeyville, Kansas; in laws, Ray and Patsy Caldwell of Florida; her brothers and sisters in-law; cousins; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Ann Radcliff.
