Jennie Bell Bowman left her earthly home to take up residence in her heavenly home on August 21, 2017. She was 100 years and 8 months old. Jennie was born on December 18, 1916 to William and Mary Bell (Salley) Bowman in Salina, OK. She was the oldest girl in the family, with one brother, Arthur older than her. She had four other brothers and two sisters. The family moved several times before settling in the Coffeyville, South Coffeyville area. She attended school in Oologah and several of the schools in Coffeyville. She left school in the 8th grade to take her place in the work world. She worked as a live-in nanny for several families in Coffeyville. She worked at Kress, Franklins Ladies Wear, Jennie Lake Photography Studios, and finally as a check at Foodtown Grocery. She retired in 1977 from Foodtown after 32 years of service. The family moved to the South Coffeyville, OK residence in 1945. Her dad had a dairy and she took the milk to Page Milk Company, in town, on her way to work each morning. During hay season, she would help with the cooking. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking, and quilt painting, with her family being the recipients of her beautiful talents. She found Christ at a young age and in later years attended the Rock Creek Church of God, in rural South Coffeyville, OK. Jennie never married, but her kind heart and caring nature endeared her to many of the people she served in the community. In addition, to her many friends, she had a large family whom she loved and spoiled and they in turn showered her with love and affection. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arthur and his wife, Edna; Oscar and his wife, Buell Rae; Lloyd and Billie.
