Helen Pearl Ryan, 101, of Tulsa, OK a former longtime Caney resident, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Parks Edge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Tulsa. She was born on May 23, 1916, at Sedan, KS to Lethron B. and Edith Ruth (Harris) Walker. Helen grew up and attended school in the Caney area. On December 28, 1941, she married Paul B. Ryan at Baxter Springs, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Caney. Her husband preceded her in death on December 6, 1990. After her husband's death she continued to make her home in Caney until moving to Tulsa in 2004 to be closer to her daughter. Helen was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Caney where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Rickman of Broken Arrow, OK; two grandchildren, Chris Rickman and wife, Melissa of Broken Arrow, OK, and Ranae Lane and husband, Dennis of Tulsa, OK; and five great-grandchildren, Katie Rickman, Alex Rickman, Mason Halderman, Jackson Halderman, and Hadley Halderman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Lois Koontz. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at the Havana Cemetery in Havana, KS. Friends may call at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
