Obituary of Stephen Lee Owen

Stephen Lee Owen was born on Feb 9, 1950 to Ben and Maggie Owen in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of three children. Steve graduated from Wagoner High School in 1968. After graduation he joined the Air Force. He served over seven years as a military policeman in Texas, Korea, Montana, Belgium, and Missouri. He married Judy Reeves and they later divorced. From that marriage two children were born, Heath and Amanda. When he left the service he returned to Okmulgee State Technical College and became a Technical Illustrator. He worked at Funk, later John Deere, for over 18 years in a variety of positions and this allowed him to travel all over the world. On February 16, 1990 he married Debbie. And from then on they were inseparable. Steve was a gifted musician who played the bass guitar. Through out his life he played in a number of bands including River Road Band, Prairie Wind Band, Loose Boots, Living Word and the Cowboy Junction Praise Band. He was also a gifted artist who drew and painted many a treasure for his family. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping and just having a good time. Steve loved his Cowboy Junction Church family in Vinita, Oklahoma. He is survived by his wife Debbie Owen, his children Heath (Sarah) Owen, Amanda (Shane) Sells, Lisa (Keith) Kuehn and Todd (Lisa) Hayes. His grandchildren Owen Carr, Makenna Kuehn, Trinity Kuehn, Halle Hayes, Rhett Sells, Avery Sells, and Weston Kuehn. His sister, Joanne (Don) Potter and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Ben and Maggie and his brother Kenny. A Memorial Service celebrating Steve's life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at Cowboy Junction Church, 27544 S 4380 Rd, Vinita, OK, with Pastor Wade Markham officiating. Burial will take place at 3:00 p.m., Friday at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Dearing Christian Church, 302 Independence Ave, Dearing, KS In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Harry Hynes Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS.
