Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Neely

Mary Elizabeth Neely, 94, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She had lived for the past five years at Windsor Place Assisted Living.

She was born July 25, 1923 in Parsons, KS to L.A. "Bill" and Myrtle (Barnhart) Williamson. She graduated from Labette County High School in 1940 and worked at the Katy Railroad during World War II. She married Burle C. Neely on May 3, 1946 in Altamont, KS. The couple moved to Coffeyville in 1948, where she has been active in PTA, Cub Scouts, the Montgomery County Extension Homemakers Unit, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Church and the Keystone Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her sons, Dick (Mary Bethe') of Surprise, AZ; Gene (Deb) of Olathe, KS; Phil (Judy) of Coffeyville, KS and daughter-in-law Cindy Neely of Columbus, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Burle, on January 22, 2018, son Steve, on July 31, 2006 and two brothers.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jon Neely of Denver, CO; Karen Neely of Big Pine Key, FL; Jake (Lois) Neely of Columbus, KS; Jessica (Wes) Garrison of Olathe, KS; Will (Lacy) Neely of Columbus, KS; Ben (Tiffany) Neely of Emporia, KS; and Katelyn Neely of Lenexa, KS; her brothers Kenneth (Edna) Williamson of Broken Arrow, OK and Bill (Gayle) Williamson of Valley Center, KS; a sister, Darlene (Roy) Misener of Union, MO; as well as seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Nicole Schwartz-Eck officiating. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett, KS.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.

The family suggests memorials to The First United Methodist Church of Coffeyville and contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
