Obituary of Douglas Donald Winston

Douglas Donald “Doug” Winston, 73, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Windsor Place.

He was born on April 20, 1944 in Riverside, CA to Donald and Crystal (Blaser) Winston. Doug grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School,  Coffeyville Community College and was a Music Major at Northwestern State University in Alva, OK.

On January 6, 1984 he married Carmen Confer at Coffeyville. She survives at the home.

After college Doug worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Kansas City for several years until returning to Coffeyville and joining his family at Winston Insurance Agency. He also sold real estate. In 1998 he retired due his health.

Doug was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a former member of Coffeyville Rotary Club, Past President of Coffeyville Country Club and formerly active with Boy’s Club. He enjoyed playing golf, music, and was an accomplished Trumpet player.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen of the home; step-son, Edward Mason and wife, Eloise of Bartlesville, OK; sister, Ann Benning and husband, Phil of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, Stephen Benning of Las Vegas, NV; two step-grandchildren, Taylor Ann Mason of Overland Park, KS, and Matthew Edward Mason serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Japan.

A private family memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at a later date. Inurnment will be in The Chapel of Resurrection Columbarium at the church.

The family suggests memorials to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
