Obituary of Betty Russell

Sedan - Betty J. Russell, 79, of El Dorado, KS, passed away Saturday, (July 15, 2006) at Susan B. Anthony Memorial Hospital in El Dorado/ She was born October 23, 1926 at Independence, KS to Carl and Mary Alice (Dyer) Walter. Betty grew up in the Sedan area where she attended school graduating from Sedan High School. Following high school she attended Southwestern College in Winfield for two years. On May 23, 1947 she married Noel Russell at Sedan. Following their marriage they made their home in the Sedan and Longton area until moving to El Dorado in 1950. Betty was employed by the City of El Dorado for 20 years retiring in 1987. Noel preceded her in death on April 26, 1999. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Survivors in clued two first cousins, Donald Dyer of China Springs, TX and A.F. "Pete" and Joan Dyer of Caney, and numerous relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (July 18, 2006) in the Casement Cemetery west of Sedan. Friends may sign the register book on Monday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, the casket will be closed. Memorials are requested to The Hollow in Sedan or the scholarship fund at Sedan High School, Elk Valley High School in Longton, KS, or El Dorado High School, contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 North Douglas, Sedan, KS 67361. David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan is in charge of arrangements.
