Coffeyville, KS - Harold D. Swiger, 72, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday night (May 25, 2006) at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born November 26, 1933 at Coffeyville to John D. and Fern R. (Moore) Swiger. He grew up in Coffeyville where he attended school graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1951. Following high school Harold served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. After being discharged from the Air Force he returned to Coffeyville and was employed at Funk Manufacturing Co. On June 14, 1981 he married Louise Buzard at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they continued making their home in Coffeyville. Harold retired from Funk Mfg. Co. in 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, serving as a Deacon and Trustee; he was also a member of Keystone Masonic Lodge #102 A.F. and A.M., York Rite at Independence, Scottish Rite at Fort Scott and Shrine at Pittsburg. Harold enjoyed golfing and working on projects at his home. Survivors include his wife, Louise of the home; three step-daughters, Sandra Harris of San Antonio, TX, Deborah Buzard Brown of Blue Springs, MO, and Susan Buzard of Coffeyville; one brother, John F. Swiger of Coffeyville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, one niece Gayle Lanning of Coffeyville, and one nephew Brian Swiger. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son David. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the First Baptist Church. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (May 28, 2006) in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating.. Private family interment service will be Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital; contributions may be left with the funeral home. David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements.
