Obituary of Danny Joe Dunham

Danny Joe Dunham, 57, of Independence, Kansas passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Danny was born on March 27, 1959 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Lee Dunham and June (Kennedy) Pierce. He grew up in the Havana and rural Tyro area attending school at Tyro and Caney, Kansas. On April 2, 1976 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Oney in Edna, Kansas. Of that union three children were born. The couple later divorced. Danny worked as a heat treater for Raytheon Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas for many years. He is more commonly known in Coffeyville for running Dan's Bait and Tackle on 8th street before the flood in 2007. He loved fishing and anything to do with fishing. He was good at rebuilding fishing poles and making custom wrapped rods. He was also loved to cook and was great at it. Most of all he loved the time he spent surrounded by his family and friends, especially the grandchildren. Surviving to honor his memory are his children, Brian Dunham and wife, Michelle of Okinawa, Japan, Amanda Cash of Mound Valley, Kansas, Jacob Dunham and wife, Cheyanne of Columbus, Kansas; grandchildren, Alexus Dunham, Tristan Dunham, Lilly Cash, Mara Cash, Gracie Roach, Tanner Dunham, Bryer Dunham; brother, Darrell Dunham and wife, Sandra of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Audre Ortega and husband, Richard of Independence, Kansas, Connie Law of Cave Creek, Arizona; sister in law, Phyllis Dunham of Coffeyville, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee in 1960; mother June in 2015; step father Otis Pierce; sister Leona Mae Dunham; brothers, Gary Dunham and Bradly Dunham. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Havana Cemetery in Havana, Kansas. Pastor Randy DePriest will officiate. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Family will greet friends Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Danny Dunham Memorial Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
