Obituary of Samuel William Shaw

Samuel William "Sam" Shaw, 69, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born on September 29, 1947, at Coffeyville to Samuel and Eleanor (Niemi) Shaw. Sam grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College. He continued his education at Pittsburg State University receiving his Bachelor's degree in accounting. Sam made his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma for many years where he was a Certified Public Accountant, working for Pepsico, Knight Industries, Dresser-Rand, and Exterran until retiring in 2010. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Over the years Sam enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, volunteering his help with events happening at St. Paul's and the time shared with his friends from work. Survivors include one brother, David Shaw of Coffeyville; and several cousins. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend William Shupe of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bartlesville, OK officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday, March 13, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the American Diabetes Association or St. Paul's Lutheran Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
