Obituary of Marilyn Sue Foster

Marilyn Sue Foster, 77. Of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville Oklahoma. Marilyn was born on September 1, 1940 in Coffeyville, Kansas to James Arthur and Edna (Eklund) Bowman. She grew up in Coffeyville where she attended a rural elementary school and graduated from Lenapah High School. She worked at Bernheart's Drug Store for a time and also worked in Coffeyville as a beautician for several years. Most of her time was spent taking care of her family and home. On January 1, 1962 she married the love of her life, Phil Foster in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in the Coffeyville area. Marilyn was a member of the South Coffeyville Methodist Church and loved being active in the church family. She is a decedent of the Supreme Chief, Amatoya Moyto of the Cherokee Indians. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, crocheting and making blankets for her family. Most of all she loved the time she spent surrounded by her family and friends. Surviving to honor her memory are her loving husband, Phil of the home; sons, Gary (Pam) Foster of Vinita, Oklahoma, Donnie (Bonnie) Foster of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; sister, Janet Soles of Coffeyville, Kansas; grandchildren, Cortney (Joletta) Foster of Wichita, Kansas, Joshua Foster of Pittsburg, Kansas, Kayce (Maggie) Foster of Peru, Nebraska; great grandchildren, Emily Foster, Nate, Christopher, Gabrial, Laz and Isabella Foster, Harleigh, Edison and Vada Foster, Kroslyn and Jaycee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Edna Bowman. A Memorial Service will be held by the family on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Coffeyville Methodist Church. Pastor Furan Jackson will officiate. A Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas. The family suggests memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or the South Coffeyville Methodist Church; contributions may be left with or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
