Coffeyville - Gary Lee King, Sr., 65, of Coffeyville passed away Monday (February 26, 2007) at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 27, 1941 at Ripley, Oklahoma to Harold Lavern and Lillian Irene (Dennis) King. When he was young he moved with his family to rural South Coffeyville, OK, where he grew up and attended Wright School. Following grade school he attended and graduated from Lenapah High School in Lenapah, OK. On February 16, 1963, he married Linda Lee Ross; they had three children, Tina LeAnn, Gary Lee, Jr., and Tanya Lynette. They were later divorced. On June 3, 1996, he married Norma Jean Rogers at Bentonville, Arkansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. He was employed for many years in the Heat Treat Department at Funk Manufacturing Co. retiring in 1996. Gary was a member of Tyro Christian Church, and the Masonic Lodge. He loved to fish and enjoyed the time spent with his son fishing; he also enjoyed making fishing poles and woodworking. Survivors include his wife Jean King of the home; one son, Gary Lee King, Jr. of Independence; three daughters, Tina LeAnn Bryer of Lenapah, OK, Tanya Lynette King of Liberty, and Linda Caldwell of Parsons; one step-son Thomas White of Austin, TX, one step-daughter, Montica White of Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Joy Friddle of Wann, OK, and Betty Bosarge of Coffeyville; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and his loyal friend Tica. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday (March 2, 2007) in the Tyro Christian Church with David Bycroft officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337. David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements.
