Obituary of Edith Inez Lewis

Inez Lewis, age 94, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at Windsor Place Nursing Home in Coffeyville. Inez was born on September 16, 1927, in Morris, Oklahoma to Will and Ella Inez (Wolfinger) Davis. Her family came to Coffeyville when she was only 2 years old, and she has lived here ever since. She attended local schools. She worked for various motor companies throughout the years as a bookkeeper for Orval Staton & Harry Keith, Coffeyville Motors, Superior Motors, and Larry Allen Motor Company. On October 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Babe C. Lewis in Galveston, Texas. For the first two years of marriage Inez kept the home fires burning while Mr. Lewis served his country in WWII. After receiving his honorable discharge, they settled in Coffeyville making it their forever home where they raised their four children, Edie, Kenny, Debbie, and Mark. Inez attended LifePoint Church in Coffeyville. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, baking cookies and cakes to give to other people and she always wanted to help others. Most of all she loved her family and the time she got to spend surrounded by them. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Debbie Hendrix and husband, Richard of Coffeyville, Kansas, son, Kenny Lewis and wife, Sudah of Leesburg, Georgia, son-in-law, Maurice Filson of Joplin, Missouri, daughter-in-law, Teresa Lewis of Phoenix, Arizona, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren along with numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Will and Ella Davis, husband, Babe Lewis, son, Mark Lewis, daughter, Edie Filson and eight sisters. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Coffeyville. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will greet friends Friday afternoon at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
