Obituary of Courtney Nicole Garton

Please share a memory of Courtney to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Courtney Nicole Garton, 24 of rural Coffeyville, KS passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Courtney was born at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center on July 16, 1998 to Scott and Lori (McCoach) Garton. She attended Edna Elementary School and graduated from Labette County High School. She continued her education at Labette Community College in the nursing program. She was currently employed by Blu Boots in Coffeyville. Courtney’s hobbies include cooking, she loved to cook for her family and friends at home and for get-togethers. She recently began letting her daughter be her little helper in the kitchen. She loved the outdoors very much and especially going with her companion, Charles and her daughter on their ATV to the lake with friends. She also enjoyed binge watching series on Netflix. In her younger years she played all the little league sporting events, which her mom and dad were very proud, and her dad never missed a game. Courtney loved to remember all the times when her rather large group of family would get together before holidays to prepare for upcoming holiday meals especially Christmas time when all the family candy recipes were made and shared in the very tight quarters of her grandmother’s home. This is where her love of cooking began and what being with family really meant to her. A passage from the Bible would be words that Courtney would want everyone to be thinking of her now; John 16:22 “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” Courtney is survived by the joy of her life, her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter Mayleigh Jo Morris, her companion Charles Morris both of the home, her parents Scott and Lori Garton of Edna, KS, her siblings; Tyler S. Garton of Caney, KS, Jordan Garton of Riverview, FL, Kenzie Garton and her companion Trey Salway of Coffeyville, KS, and Zane Garton of Edna, KS whom she shared a very special “best friend” bond with and could always be found together, uncles; Jeff Garton and his wife Liz of Tyro, KS, Mike McCoach and his wife Bev of rural Valeda, KS, and Dennis McCoach of Cherryvale, KS, aunts; Bobbie Stroud of Raymore, MO, Tereasa Stanley and her husband Doug of Coffeyville, KS, Cindy Shearhart and her husband Bill of Coffeyville, KS, and Kimberly Volmer and her husband Brad of Parsons, KS and numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends that were all very close with her. She was preceded in death by her brother Tim Garton, grandparents; Dennis Garton Diana (Combs) Garton, Richard McCoach, Jo Ann (Wilcox) Shaffer and an uncle, David Stroud.
