Mary “Lavella” Roper left this earth peacefully on September 9, 2022 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX surrounded by her loving family at the age of 80. She was born March 31, 1942 in Elk City, KS to William “Bill” and Flossie (Seller) Stadalman who both preceded her in death. She married the love of her life Louis Earl Roper on September 27, 1959 in Caney, KS. He preceded her in death in 2012 after 53 years of marriage. Lavella retired in 1999 from Dearborn Brass a Moen Corporation in Tyler, TX. She was an avid bowler and loved to travel, but nothing was more important to her than spending time with her family. Lavella is survived by her eldest daughter Denise Cannady and husband Gary of Ben Wheeler, TX and their sons Jerry “J.J.” Ashford and wife Samantha of Tyler, TX, and Brad Cannady and wife Dawn of Oglethorpe, GA; her son Wayne Roper of Caney, KS, his children, Ashley of Caney, KS, Kendall and wife Brittany of Meridian, ID, and Lyndsay Camper and husband Anthony of Caney, KS; her youngest daughter Marsha McCoy and her sons, Chad and fiancé Robin, Brandon and fiancé Jessica all of Tyler, TX; and 15 ½ great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by twin infant siblings and daughter-in-law Karen Roper. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home. Evangelist David Bycroft will officiate. Pallbearers: Brandon McCoy, Anthony Camper, Brent Roper, Jeremy Roper, Wesley Roper and Steve Ernest. Honorary Pallbearers: Chad McCoy, Jerry “J.J.” Ashford and Kendall Roper. Interment will follow at the Fawn Creek Cemetery north of Tyro. The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association; these may be left with the funeral home or mailed in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline Rd.
