Coffeyville - Charles L. "Chuck" Males, 54, of South Coffeyville, OK, died Wednesday (September 13, 2006) at his home. He was born May 24, 1952 at Hugo, Oklahoma to Al and Anna Marie (Crimmins) Males. He moved to the Coffeyville area with his family when he was young. He attended Clymore School, Roosevelt Junior High and Field Kindley High School. In 1969 he joined the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam, he was discharged in 1975. On December 9, 1977 he married Charita McCartney at Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Chuck was employed as an operator at Coffeyville Resources. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1022, and International Association of Operating Engineers. Survivors include his wife, Charita of the rural Coffeyville; one son, Jake Males of Amarillo, TX; one step-son, Richie Ferguson of Moline, KS; his father Al Males of rural Coffeyville; two brothers, Bud Males of Langley, OK, and Don Males of Coffeyville; three sisters, Alice Gillespie of Coffeyville, Sharon High of Coffeyville, and Cathy Primo of Coffeyville; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday (September 18, 2006) in Pumpkin Creek Cemetery east of Coffeyville with Rev. Layne Heitz of Durant, OK officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, Kansas. Friends may sign the register book on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, the casket will be closed. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor's choice.
