Coffeyville Dick Wilford Mayfield, 79, of rural Caney, died Sunday night (July 30, 2006) at his home. He was born July 7, 1927 at Harper, Kansas to Bert and Irene (Beagley) Mayfield. He grew up and attended school in the Harper and Arkansas City area until moving to Caney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On February 14, 1964 he married Elizabeth "Liz" Turner at Caney. Following their marriage they made their home in the Caney area where Mr. Mayfield was employed at the grain elevator for over 25 years and farmed. Survivors include his wife, Liz of the home; one son, Ray Mayfield of rural Caney; one daughter, Eva Carinder of rural Caney; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father Elton Blundell, two infant sons, one brother and one sister. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 2, 2006) in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney with Reverend Dan Carr of the Tyro United Methodist Church officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
