Sedan- Lee Dale Mills, 57, of Sumner, Texas, formerly of Sedan, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at the Medical City Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He was born February 1, 1954 in Sedan, Kansas to Floyd and Lua (Stark) Mills. He was born and raised in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School in 1972. After high school he attended Tyro Ranching School. He worked with his father, Floyd, operating the Spur Ranch in Sedan his whole life. In 1974 he married Shelia D. Miller and to this union was born two children, Regina and Dusty. On October 5, 2003 he married Joyce Mann in Sedan, Kansas. They made their home at the Spur Ranch until moving to Beggs, Oklahoma where they lived for six years before moving to Sumner, Texas in May of 2011. He was a former member and Elder of the First Christian Church in Sedan. He was also a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Beggs, Oklahoma, Faith Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma, and currently Chisholm Trails Cowboy Church in Powderly, Texas. He enjoyed working with machinery, welding, and reading. He loved to bale hay and work with the tree saw. He was a devoted Christian, husband, and father. He was preceded in death by his father Floyd K. Mills. He is survived by his wife of the home, Joyce Mills, two daughters, Regina and husband Kenne Whitson of Garden City, Kansas and Jennifer and husband Jason Carroll of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, three sons, Dusty Mills of Lawrence, Kansas, Joe and wife Angie Mann of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Jerry and wife Kara Mann of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his mother Lua S. Mills of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Carol and husband Larry Tranbarger of Macksville, Kansas and Joyce and husband Larry McCall of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Family and friends may call on Saturday, November 19, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedan. Church Services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedan with Pastor John Warring, Pastor Penny Goldberg officiating, and Dr. Kenne Whitson. Burial will follow at the Cedar Creek Cemetery northwest of Cedar Vale, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Lee Dale Mills Memorial Fund. Those remembrances can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
