Sedan - Ronald Dene Sartin, age 68, of Cedar Vale, Kansas passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at his home in Cedar Vale, Kansas. He was born December 4, 1942 in Winfield, Kansas to Myrl and Melba (Fitzgibbons) Sartin. He grew up and attended school in Cedar Vale until the eleventh grade before moving to California where he graduated from High School. He served in the United States Army as a newspaper reporter and APC Carrier operator until he was honorably discharged. In 1967, he married Joyce Connors. Ron was an entrepreneur and was involved in some 34 different businesses throughout his life, but the business he loved the most and returned to was taking care of the farms that were so dear to his grandfather O. D. Sartin who taught him all he knew about farming and life. Until his recent illness he was a farmer and cattle rancher at his farm near Elgin. On September 10, 2004 he married Jolene Sanders in Dexter, Kansas. She survives of the home. He was a lifelong Christian, loved the Lord, reading his Bible, and was active in the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale. He is survived by his wife Jolene of the home in Cedar Vale, Kansas; one sister, Janice Parent and husband Ron of Branson, Missouri; three step-sons, Doug Sanders of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jerrol Sanders of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Wes Sanders of Wellsville, Kansas; two grandchildren, Laicy Chamberlin and Logan Parent of Michigan ; three nieces, Lian Di Ciolla,of San Jacinto, California, Ginger Johnson of Parker Arizona, and Jill Will of Temecula California, and many great nieces, nephews and cousins . He was preceded in death by his parents and one step-son Reggie Parent, and one nephew Mark Di Ciolla. Church Services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Lowell Harp and Vern Wilkinson officiating. Family and friends may call on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and the family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. The family has suggested memorials to the River Cross Hospice and Carpenter Place Children's Home and may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
