Coffeyville - Pauline Journeycake, 99, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born February 6, 1912 at Nowata, OK to Jesse D. and Georgia (Shamblin) Journeycake. Pauline grew up and attended elementary school in Nowata, she then attended and graduated from Chilocco Indian School north of Newkirk, OK. After completing her education she moved to the Coffeyville area where she made her home and raised her family. She was employed at Electra and Automotive Controls Corporation both in Independence, and the Parsons Ammunition Plant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville, enjoyed sewing, and crocheting, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Davis and Jacquelyn Johnson both of Coffeyville; three grandchildren, Susie Alstatt and husband Kendall, Darrin Davis and wife Jennifer, and Stacie Moore; and seven great-grandchildren, Samantha Davis, Daci Davis, Paxton Davis, Garrett Alstatt, Grant Alstatt, Jordan Moore, and Stellyn Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, Lindsey Alstatt, one son-in-law, Don D. Davis; two brothers, Jack Journeycake, and Bill Journeycake; and one sister, Catherine Journeycake. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville with Dr. Randall Terrill officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Cherokee Nation Education Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
