Coffeyville - Everett R. "Pete" Stevens, 70, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1940 at Coffeyville to Wayne and Pauline (Walker) Stevens. Pete grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School. After completing high school he attended Emporia State University where he received his Bachelor Degree in Business. He married Eula Mae Garrison, together they had three children. They were later divorced. For many years Pete was a manager for Kroger in the Grocery Division working in Olathe, KS and Louisiana. He later owned and operated a grocery store in Baxter Springs, KS. In the early 1980's he returned to Coffeyville and was employed at Borum's Nu-Way. Pete was a member of Amazing Grace Chapel in Coffeyville. Survivors include two daughters; Cathy Stevens of Coffeyville, and Lori North of Smyrna, TN; one brother, Gary Stevens of Coffeyville; one sister, Rita Stansbury of Dearing; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son Ricky Lee Stevens in 1974. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Amazing Grace Chapel; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
