Coffeyville - Vyrl V. Smith, 96, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born November 7, 1914 at Wauneta, KS to Alonzo and Zora (Sallee) Smith. Vyrl grew up and attended school in Chautauqua County and Sedan. In 1932 he married Pansy Middleton at Joplin, MO. Following their marriage they made their home in Sedan where he operated Kenney Fishing Tackle Co. In the mid 1940's they moved to Coffeyville where he continued making fishing tackle and was Pastor of a church on South Spruce St. for many years. His wife preceded him in death in 2006. Vyrl loved hunting and fishing. Survivors include three sons, Jim Smith and wife Pat of Nowata, OK, Terry Smith of Sand Springs, OK, and Ed Smith and wife Natalia of Coffeyville; one brother, Kenneth Smith of Owasso, OK; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two daughters, Donna Thomas, and Kay Siedel. Graveside Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at the North Edna Cemetery in Edna, KS. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W.
