Coffeyville - Carletta Denny, 65, of rural Tyro, passed away Monday, February 28, 2011 at her home. She was born August 24, 1945 in rural Nowata, OK, to Carl and Eudora (Morgan) Byfield. She grew up in rural Nowata, attending White Hill elementary school and graduating from Chelsea High School in 1963. On May 21, 1966 she married Gene Denny in Nowata. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their family on the family farm and ranch north of Tyro. Carletta worked for the Cities Service Oil and Gas Company, Coffeyville Journal, Prudential Insurance and Montgomery County Clerk's office. For over forty years Carletta managed the family farm and ranch with her husband, however, her favorite job was raising her children. She was very active in the Community of Christ Church of rural Coffeyville; and also served as a Minister. Survivors include her husband Gene of the home; one son and his wife Steven and Kristi Denny; one daughter and her husband Melissa and Kelly McIntosh; she was blessed to raise the children of Coleen Larkin; Doug Larkin of Tyro, Scott Larkin of St. Clairsville, OH and Greg Larkin of Caney; two sisters, Sandra Peck of Independence, MO and Pat Whiteman of Skiatook, OK; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Gary Byfield. Private Graveside Services will be in Fawn Creek Cemetery northeast of Tyro. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville (9th and Elm) with David Quick officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Outreach International and Mayo Clinic Department of Development Myleofibrosis Research; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
