Coffeyville - Sarah Elaine Drum, 80, of Caney, was welcomed home in "the Arms of Jesus" Tuesday, November 16, 2010. Sarah Elaine Rogers was born January 3, 1930 in Niotaze, KS to Reuben Edgar and Sarah Ruby (Guier) Rogers. She attended school in Niotaze, Cherryvale and Havana moving to Caney her sophomore year, graduating from Caney High School in 1948. Sarah accepted the Lord at the age of 16 in the First Baptist Church in Caney. On November 23, 1952 she married Floyd Edward Drum, he preceded her in death on February 20, 1983. Sarah enjoyed hobbies of ceramics and canvas painting. Her favorite hours were spent doing work for Jesus. She loved going to River of Life Church where she was a member and pray for others. When her health kept her from attending church she said she could still pray. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jay and husband Phillip of Caney; her son, Kim Drum and wife Patty of Caney; two brothers, Reuben Dewaine "Bud" Rogers of Marshall, TX, and Norman Rogers of Newton, KS; three grandchildren, Phil Jay and wife Mendy of Pittsburg, Jason Jay and wife Sandra of Kansas City, Sarah Clark and James Young of Niotaze; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob and Michael Clark of Niotaze, and Elijah and Ellyanna Jay of Pittsburg. A Graveside Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney with Rev. Dan DeWitt of the First Baptist Church in Caney officiating. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Caney. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Caney; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
