Coffeyville - Margaret A. Standeford, 81, of Caney, and former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 6, 1928, at Attica, Kansas to Walter and Eleanor (Miller) VanAusdall. She moved with her family to Coffeyville where she completed her education graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1946. On September 25, 1947 she married Carl Daniel Wallace at Coffeyville, they had one daughter Karen Sue together. They were divorced in 1959. In 1962 she married Donald Standeford from Nowata, OK, they had one daughter Sandra Kay together. They were later divorced. She later married Clarence Pursley in 1981, and they divorced. Margaret attended and graduated from Independence Beauty College. She worked at several local grocery stores, Karby's, Kroger's, Butcher's Market, and 4th Street Food Center later known as Elmore's IGA, before going to work at Funk Mfg. where she worked until retiring. Following her retirement she worked at Sirloin Stockade in Coffeyville. In the 1950's Margaret loved working on the family farm. She was a hard worker and put all her energy into whatever job she was given. In later years she worked as a seamstress doing alterations. She was a former member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, and later was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Coffeyville. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, especially babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Karen S. Tremain and husband Michael of Havana, KS, and Sandy Kay Hanks of Wichita; one brother, Robert VanAusdall of Indiana; two sisters, Jennie Lee Ott of Medicine, Lodge, KS, and Laura Allison of Kinsley, KS; two grandchildren, Sol E. Hanna and wife Kelly of Coffeyville, and Rebecca J. Brake and husband Darren of rural Tyro; and five great-grandchildren, Darren Chase Brake, Chance Dean Brake, Chandler Lee Brake, Trisha Danielle Hanna, and Sol Michael Hanna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Helen Schaller. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Havana Cemetery at Havana, KS with David Bycroft of the Tyro Christian Church officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church Building Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
