Kenneth Lee Hearson, 70, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on April 25, 1939, at Parsons, KS to Oscar and Gladys (Murray) Hearson. He grew up and attended school in Labette County, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1957.
In March 1958 he married Carolyn Fryar. Kenneth started working at Funk Manufacturing in December 1957 and worked there until his early retirement in 1995. He worked at Coffeyville SEKTAM from 1997 to March 2009, while at SEKTAM he was very involved with their Relay for Life team.
Kenneth was Scoutmaster of Troop 947 of Coffeyville from 1973 to 1983.
He was a member of Eagle Rock Ministries Church of Coffeyville.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of the home; four sons and their wives, Terry and Janie Hearson, and Tim and Kim Hearson all of Coffeyville, Todd and Wanda Hearson of Wichita, and Tracy and Denise Hearson of Andover, KS;11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Earl and Marsha Hearson of Parsons, KS
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Melvin Ray Hearson and two infant grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville with Pastor Brent Wills officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Friday, January 1, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Eagle Rock Ministries Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
