Obituary of Sarah Jane Leach

Sedan - Sarah Jane Leach, 93, of Sedan, passed away Tuesday morning December 15, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan. She was born February 26, 1916 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Frank and Julia Louisa (Moreland) Muder. She grew up and attended school in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and graduated from Sedan High School. She later attended Pittsburg State Teachers College and majored in music. On November 28, 1934 she married Archie Leach in Sedan, Kansas. They lived in Sedan most of their life, during World War II they lived in Pryor, OK, Yakima, WA and Cedar Vale, KS before returning to Sedan. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2009. She was the Chautauqua County Clerk for many years retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sedan, and the Pandora Club. She also enjoyed playing the piano in her earlier years. Survivors include her two daughters; Norma Lee Leach of Sedan, and Margaret Jane Dexter of Winfield, KS; two grandchildren; one grandson-in-law and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Leach, her parents, one infant son and one granddaughter. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Sedan with Rev. Jerry Bever officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
