Lavond D. Rutledge 77, of Coffeyville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born November 4, 1932 in Geuda Springs, Kansas to Albert and Mary Lou (Sparks) Bartley.
On March 17, 1951 she married Gerald Newt Rutledge. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1973.
She was a member of Lewark Church of God. She taught Sunday school to the children for eight years. She did Bible Study at Windsor Assisted Living every week.
She is survived by her son Rick Rutledge and Sue Engel of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter Gerry and her husband John Kowalchuk of Prairie Village, Kansas; three grandsons, Troy Rutledge of Evansville, Wyoming, Scott Kowalchuk and wife Emily of Tijeras, New Mexico, and Keith Kowalchuk of Woodstock Georgia; one great-granddaughter, Zoe Ann Kowalchuk; two brothers, Shelton Bartley and wife Pauline of Joplin, Missouri and Delbert Bartley of Newton, Kansas; one sister Edna Taylor and husband Loren of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces and nephews who enjoyed their Aunt Lavond.
She was preceded in death by one son Kenny Lee Rutledge, two brothers, Nolan and Albert Bartley and one sister Earmel.
Family and Friends may call on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Church Services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville with the Reverends Josh Thayer and J.D. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at the Elgin Cemetery in Elgin, Kansas.
The Family has requested memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Lewark Church of God and those remembrances can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
