Coffeyville - Marion T. Larkin, or MT as he was known to his friends and family, a lifelong resident of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the age of 83. MT was born in Coffeyville to John and Flow (Wooten) Larkin, one of nine children, six brothers and two sisters. He attended Holy Name Elementary School and Field Kindley High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during WW II, serving his country honorably. Following his discharge from the Navy he returned to Coffeyville where he took a job at the local cola bottling company. Later, he accepted a position with the City of Coffeyville where he served in various capacities for 28 years until he retired in 1988. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. MT enjoyed spending time with his friends, fishing and camping. Survivors include his daughter, Susie Larkin; his sister, Mary Looper; two grandchildren, Amy and Jason; and sixteen nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Military Honors will follow at the Veterans Patio in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, conducted by V.F.W. Post #1022 and American Legion Post #20. Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to V.F.W. Post #1022; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
