Jimmy Ray Wolfe, age 48, of Peru, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan.
He was born June 20, 1961 in Sedan, Kansas to Leslie Ray and Edna (Peel) Wolfe. He attended and graduated from Sedan High School. On April 27, 1984 he married Donna Carter in Peru, Kansas. He worked as a self-employed oil field producer, pipe tester, pumped numerous leases, and also was a farmer.
He was a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County and was very active in his community. He was the Mayor of Peru and also was the Treasurer for the Public Wholesale Water Supply District #20.
He loved to fish and hunt. He also loved working and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed being ornery to anyone and everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Wolfe of the home; two children, Joni Wolfe and J.R. Wolfe both of the home in Peru, Kansas; his father and step-mother, Ray and Melodee Wolfe of rural Sedan, Kansas; his mother Edna Peel of Sedan, Kansas; three sisters, Patty Wolfe of Longton, Kansas, Marilyn Simpson of Peru, Kansas and Janet Hartley of Peru, Kansas; two brothers, Mike Wolfe of Independence, Kansas and Les Wolfe of Peru, Kansas; five adopted sons, Kolby Gorby, Jamie Breeding, Curtis Brown, Matt Hartley and Justin Snider; numerous nieces and nephews and all of his adopted children.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy E. Wolfe.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, November 20, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Kansas with Pastors John Warring and Kevin Fogerty officiating.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Jimmy Wolfe Memorial Fund and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
