Jimmie Dale Logan, 74, of Coffeyville passed away Sunday morning, November 15, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 24, 1935 at Fairland, Oklahoma to Ernest D. and Elizabeth (Towne) Logan. He moved to Coffeyville with his family where he attended school, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1954. Following high school he attended Kansas State University in Manhattan.
He married Joyce Chowning, together they had five children. They were later divorced.
Jimmie was a pipefitter, and master plumber. He was co-owner of Chowning and Logan for many years. After leaving Chowning and Logan he moved to Montana where he lived for nearly 10 years before returning to Coffeyville.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, and the Pipefitters Union. Jimmie enjoyed ranching and working with cattle.
Survivors include four sons, Tim Logan of Lima, OH, David Logan and wife Anne of Coffeyville, Jeff Logan and wife Tina of Coffeyville, and Kevin Logan and wife Michelle of Oologah, OK; one daughter, Cathy O'Connor and husband David of Houston, TX; his mother, Elizabeth Logan of Coffeyville; four brothers, Mike Logan of Helena, MT, Phil Logan of Port Richey, FL, Jerry Logan of Coffeyville, and John Logan of Branson, MO; one sister, Debbie Mumford of Tacoma, WA; and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery Veterans Memorial Patio with Rev. Nathan Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednedsay from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Jimmie Logan Memorial Fund being established at Coffeyville Community College Technical Campus; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
