Sedan - E. June Doty, age 90, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan. She was born June 4, 1919 north of Union Chapel in rural Chautauqua County to William and Atcha (Robinson) Vanderhoof. She attended the Plymouth school thru the eighth grade. On August 31, 1935 she married Thomas M. "Junior" Doty at the First Baptist Church in Sedan, Kansas. They were long- time residents of Chautauqua County. She was a bus driver for 20 years for the Unified School District #286 in Sedan. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. "Junior" Doty on November 30, 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan for eighty years, the Union Chapel Association, and the Dorcas Society. She especially enjoyed her ten years at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan she loved all of the staff and residents. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting, playing bingo and yahtzee. She is survived by two sons; John and wife Pauline Doty of Sedan, Kansas, and Tim and wife Lisa Doty of Sedan, Kansas; one daughter, Atcha and husband Mike Nolan of El Dorado, Kansas; one sister, Ruth Call of rural Cedar Vale, Kansas; six grandchildren, Doris Doty Brown, Jane Doty Ullum, Michele Nolan Menke, Linette Nolan Liby, Jenna Doty Stacey, and Trey Doty, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. "Junior" Doty, her parents, five sisters, Erma Vanderhoof, Ethel Rentschler, Opal Owens, Edith Spire, and Ada Mills, and one great-granddaughter. Family and friends may call Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, November 13, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Dr. J. Dean McNamara and Earl Tresner officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Chapel Cemetery north of Sedan. The family has requested memorial donations to the First Baptist Church, the Union Chapel Association, Hospice Care of Kansas, or Pleasant Valley Manor in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
