Betty Jane Merriman, 83, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK
She was born November 26, 1925 at Indianapolis, Indiana to Will and Bernice (Brown Caine. When she young her family moved to Independence, KS where she attended grade school, the family later moved to Coffeyville where she graduated from Field Kindley High School and attended Coffeyville Community College. After completing her education Betty worked as a telephone operator.
On February 6, 1946 she married Brady E. Merriman at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Betty worked in the Admissions Office at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center and later sold Real Estate with Century 21 in Bartlesville, OK.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Beta Sigma Phi Social Sorority and was an advisor for Rainbow Girls.
Survivors include her husband, Brady Merriman of the home, two daughters, Paula Marie Miller and husband Dr. Stephen Miller of Coffeyville, and Nancy Jo Buck and of Wilmington, NC; three grandchildren, Lisa and Bryan Lang of Tulsa, OK, Brian Hefley and Sonda of Tulsa, OK, and Logan Pateof Wilmington, NC; four step-grandchildren, Kim and John Sims of Sacramento, CA, Susie Miller, Tim and Amanda Miller of Tulsa, OK, and Bryan Miller of Coffeyville; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Lang and Ashlyn Hefley; and four step-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Coffeyville with Rev. John Collins officiating. Cremation will take place.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
