Dr. Larry D. Murrow II, of St. Charles, Missouri formerly of Coffeyville, died from injuries received in an automobile accident Friday, November 6, 2009 near Pilot Knob, Missouri.
He was born September 13, 1965 in Wichita Kansas to Larry and Ann (Drenner) Murrow. The family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where he grew up and received his education, graduating from Field Kindley High School class of 1984. He then entered the University of Kansas as a Summerfield Scholar graduating with honors in 1988. Larry was then accepted to study medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1988, during his fourth year he was honored as an outstanding medical student and graduated in 1992. Upon graduation he accepted a residency in family practice at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. During his time at St. Joseph's he was awarded the Most Outstanding Resident, completing his residency in 1995. Dr. Murrow then joined the United States Air Force serving as a physician at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.
In 1990 he married Kelly Conners, together they had four children, they later divorced. He later married Lan Schumacher, she survives of the home.
In September 1999 he joined Ronald Seiglie, M.D. in family practice in Pittsburg, Kansas. In 1993 he joined the Army National Guard in Olathe, Kansas and moved his family to St. Louis, Missouri. There he practiced in emergency room medicine for St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis and had his own corporation. He served 6 months as a physician in the Iraq War. He achieved the rank of Major while in Iraq.
Survivors include his wife, Lan of the home; four children, Bailey Murrow, Aidan Murrow, Tristan Murrow, and Paris Murrow all of O'Fallon, Missouri; his parents, Larry and Ann Murrow of Coffeyville; and Lan's children, Erica Schumacher, Andrew Schumacher, and Kenny Schumacher all of St. Charles, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Anna Drenner, and Rollan and Goldie Murrow; an infant son; and his brother, David Andrew Murrow.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas with military honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard, Fort Riley, Kansas.
Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
