Diana M. Deenihan, 71, of Edna formerly a longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Monday, November 2, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 20, 1938 in rural Welch, Oklahoma to Floyd and Jean (McCoy) Shere. She grew up and attended rural schools in Craig County, OK, and graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
In 1961, she married Tom Deenihan in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Mrs. Deenihan was employed as a letter carrier for several years. Her husband preceded her in death in September 1987.
She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. Diana was a gifted musician playing the piano, guitar, violin and accordion, and loved embroidering, and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Deenihan and Darren Dennihan both of Coffeyville; one brother, David Shere of Coffeyville; three sisters, Sharon Frey of Coffeyville, Karen Ledesma of Los Cruces, NM, and Daisy Wilson of Grand Junction, CO; special friend, Carl Worley of Edna; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Donald Shere.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 5p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
