Sedan - Anita Kathleen Nixon, 59, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born June 1, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas to Dave R. Kennedy and Virginia (Bash) Kennedy. She grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita schools. She worked in the detail department for Davis Moore Ford in Wichita before becoming a full time housewife. On December 26, 2001 she married Steven J. Nixon in Sedan, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita before moving to Sedan in 2000. Anita enjoyed painting and spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons; Jake Hinkle of Chautauqua, Kansas and Willy Hinkle of Elgin, Kansas; one daughter, Tina Blankinship of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, David Kennedy of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Alice Kennedy of Wichita, Kansas, and Cindy Darling of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother Larry Kennedy and her parents. Services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Life Baptist Church in Chautauqua, Kansas with Pastor Larrie Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas. Friends may call on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan.
