Obituary of Joe Hawkins

Coffeyville - Joe S. Hawkins, 52, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2009 at his home. He was born March 29, 1957 at Modesto, California to Pete and Grace (Clancy) Hawkins. Joe grew up and attended school in Modesto, after graduating from high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. On April 8, 1978 he married Vickie Bauer in Modesto, CA. Following their marriage they made their home in Modesto where they lived until moving to Coffeyville in 1993. Joe worked for a company providing security at John Deere Coffeyville Works. He loved spending time with his family especially his two granddaughters. In his spare time he enjoyed canoeing and watching football. Survivors include his wife, Vickie of the home; two daughters, April Hawkins, and Candace Hawkins both of Coffeyville; two granddaughters, Aaliyah Greer and Sydnee Jo Hawkins both of Coffeyville; two brothers, Jack Hawkins of Tulare, CA, and Johnny Hawkins of Modesto, CA; and three sisters, Carol Andres of Denver, CO, Mary Yoakum of Denver, CO, and Kathy Hawkins of Modesto, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jesse Hawkins. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
