Dustin Ray Shufeldt, 23, of South Coffeyville, OK, died Saturday morning, October 24, from injuries received in an automobile accident south of South Coffeyville.
He was born July 28, 1986 in Claremore, OK to Larry D. and Lori (Gavrilys) Shufeldt. Dustin grew up and attended school in the South Coffeyville area, and graduated from Oklahoma Union High School.
On June 9, 2007 he married Ashley White at Miami, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in South Coffeyville. Dustin was employed at Taylor Crane and Rigging in Coffeyville as an equipment operator.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Coffeyville, and an active member of the South Coffeyville Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time Dustin enjoyed going hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley of the home; one daughter, Abby Shufeldt of the home; his father and step-mother, Larry and Cassy Shufeldt of South Coffeyville, his mother and step-father, Lori and Eric Dick of Coffeyville; two brothers, Colton Bustos of Coffeyville, Brody Shufeldt of South Coffeyville; five sisters, Christina Peterson of Pittsburg, Starla Morris of Coffeyville, Samantha Shufeldt, Olivia Shufeldt, and Courtney Nolte all of South Coffeyville; paternal grandparents, Carl and Martha Shufeldt of South Coffeyville; maternal grandparents, Judy and the late Jack Gavrilys of Coffeyville; maternal great-grandmother, Pauline Carter of Coffeyville; and aunt, Pauline Gavrilys of Coffeyville.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Coffeyville with Father Jerry Adinolfi officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery at Lenapah, OK.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Ashley and Abby Shufeldt Fund being established at Regents Bank in South Coffeyville; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306, North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
