Sedan - Fred B. Taylor, age 93, of Moline, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas. He was born July 30, 1916 in Howard, Kansas to Franklin D. and Alice (Stephens) Taylor. He attended school in Howard through the 11th grade when the war broke out and then he enlisted in the United States Army. He served for four years in the service, three of which were overseas. When the war ended, he settled in Howard, Kansas and worked for Barger and Son in the lumber yard. Later he moved to Moline and worked for Ames Chevrolet for twenty-three years. He also worked for the City of Moline. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moline Baptist Church. He married Goldie Bryan Farnsworth on June 19, 1958 and made their home in Moline until moving to Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan. He is survived by his wife Goldie Taylor of Sedan, Kansas; three step-children, Sharon Johnson of Fredonia, Kansas and Shirley and Walter Wigton of Sedan, Kansas; five grandsons, Brian Wigton of Blue Springs, Missouri, John Wigton of Moberly, Missouri, Jay Wigton of Junction City, Kansas, Dr. Kurt Johnson of State College, Pennsylvania and Ken Johnson of Castro Valley, California and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Moline Cemetery in Moline, Kansas with Harry Hynes Hospice Chaplain Mike Graham officiating.
