Ada Beatrice Wall, of Coffeyville, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2009 at Windsor Place.
She was born on August 29, 1918 at Alton, KS to Harry and Maud (Hill) Bryant. For a brief period the family lived in St. Louis, MO before moving to Coffeyville in 1930. Ada attended Coffeyville schools, graduating from Field Kindley High School and attended Coffeyville Junior College.
On September 1, 1939, she married John B. Wall. They owned and operated Wall's Jewelry Store in Coffeyville for many years. Ada was a registered bridal consultant with the jewelry store, as well as an expert on precious gems, jewelry, sterling silver, and china. She was a featured speaker many times for various organizations and entertained them with her lively presentations. She is also known for her beautiful needlepoint creations and her prolific crocheted and knitted items given as gifts to family and friends. Her husband preceded her in death in 1974. Following her husband's death she continued to operate the jewelry store. After selling the store she continued working until retiring in 1998.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, a member of the American Society of Gemologists, American Association of Bridal Consultants, and a charter member of Coffeyville Country Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Winters and husband Marvin, and Sally McIntire all of Tulsa, OK; two sons, Jerry Wall of wife Peggy of Springfield, MO, and Andy Wall of Coffeyville; one nephew, Danny Bryant and wife Janet of Atascocita, TX; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and her brother, Dan Bryant.
A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville with Pastor Diane Massey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the First Presbyterian Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
