Coffeyville -
Rachel J. Williamson, 94, of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Windsor Place.
She was born March 10, 1915, at Augusta, KS to Edmond and Clara (Scott) Lentz. In 1918 her family moved to Coffeyville where she grew up and attended school.
On February 7, 1937 she married Bill Williamson at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. They were later divorced.
In the late 1940's and early 1950's Mrs. Williamson owned and operated the Hook & Ladder Cafe at 7th and Union and in the 1960's she owned and operated the Museum Cafe across from the Dalton Museum. In 1972 she moved to Tulsa, OK where she made her home until returning to Coffeyville in 1998.
She was a member of the Boston Avenue Methodist Church while she lived in Tulsa, and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Coffeyville.
Survivors include two daughters, Delores Myers of Coffeyville, and Betty Roberts of Broken Arrow, OK; three sons, Bill Williamson of Havana Lake, KS, Fred Williamson of Bella Vista, AR, and Larry Williamson of Broken Arrow, OK; 16 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Foust, and Delbert Moore and three grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 in the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, with Pastor Brad Sanders of the First Christian Church in Caney officiating.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the Charity of the Donor's Choice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
